Plett Truck And Vine Festival
Having a browse on Plett Tourism for events in the local area we came across the Plett Truck And Vine Festival.
Showing our naive British approach we thought what kind of trucks… It had never occurred to us it would be Food Trucks!
Occurring on the 9th April 2017 (sorry guys you missed out), we thought what better way to spend a Sunday?
Redford Lane Wines
Hosted by Redford Lane Wines who are a small boutique producer of young Sauvignon Blanc Vines. Based in The Crags which is just 20km east of Plettenberg Bay it truly is a magnificent family run business.
Offering a variety of wines including their White, Red and a Copper Méthode Cap Classique.
You can see more of them here… https://redfordlanewines.co.za
Plettenberg Bay
Thinking of attending a similar event or visiting the area? It isn’t called Plett Winelands for nothing!
Plettenberg Bay offers a fantastic base for a variety of activities for all the family. Whether you are after adventure from the Canopy Tours (more on this soon) to a relaxing view of Robberg, Plett is just what the doctor ordered.

The Event
The event itself was from 11am until 5pm. With a poor morning weather forecast we were unsure how the day would pan out
Armed with the drone and cameras we set off on our way to what was going to be a great excuse for alcohol on a Sunday.
Arrival
Due to the weather looking overcast we were unsure what to expect, but the sun was trying to shine through the clouds.
After a short drive down the sand roads off of the N2 we arrived at our destination.
Shocked at how busy it was already, the car park alone was filling up and there was a queue on the gate to get in.
The Venue
The Venue alone was a truly fantastic set up, with a variety of stalls already serving the public and the water with a floating stage attached was a prime example of a fantastically well organised event.
Picnic
Similar to a Summers Day in the U.K everyone comes together to support the event, bringing their blankets to sit and enjoy the sun, listen to good music and be with great company.
We made friends throughout the day, and even recognised some locals.
Everyone we spoke to said the true local support was fantastic, and it was proven just watching everyone talk to one another.
The Wines
After all… The whole event was about the wine and food so we can’t miss that off.
On a hot summers day there is nothing better than a refreshing soft white wine. So naturally this was on the agenda.
With a hint of pineapple, floral tones and a light lime undertone finish, it was just what the doctor ordered.
It looked like we weren’t the only ones to sit back and enjoy.
Music
Choosing a line up for an event like this was never going to be easy but the organisers truly did a fantastic job.
You will never please everyone with the musical choice, but some how they managed it.
It was like going back in time listening to some great music. The setup to the stage added to the experience as they had organised a floating stage which allowed the musicians to vocally be heard across the whole event.
The grass banks led up to the water allowing visitors to just sit, relax and enjoy the music.
Food
Saddened to say we did not get a chance to experience the Wontan’s from one of the particular food stalls, but we had heard good things.
The queue for this stall alone proved how good the food was.
There was a variety of stalls to tickle all taste buds.
Whether you wanted something basic or something more exotic they had it.
The VIP area offered a beautiful selection of meats, breads, and cheese. A true experience.
Activities For All
The event hosted a variety of stalls for the whole family.
From alcohol and food for the parents, to face painting, bouncy castles and plenty more for the kids, and young at heart.
To top the day off SkyDive Plett http://www.skydiveplett.com offered their support with two free fallers dropping Chocolate Easter Eggs for the kids to search for as part of an Easter Egg Special.
This was enjoyed by kids and adults… Ask Sharyn.
First Of The Series
From our understanding this is the very first event of the series being organised around Plett Winelands.
The difference being, they will all be themed accordingly. Whether you are after fun for the whole family, a more upmarket luxury evening and so on… Watch this space!
Each will be held at different Vineyards in the attempt to bring out the true characteristics of the location and drink itself.
So the Plett Truck And Vine Festival was the first 0f many more to come.
The People
One of the biggest highlights for us were the people that came together to enjoy the event.
From the local support to the flocks of holiday makers that came down to enjoy the event, everyone came together to offer an amazing happy atmosphere.
We met some great people, one of which being Sharyn Hodges, who aided in our entertainment factor of the day.
Witnessing someone so passionate about chocolate, literally float in the air as she attempted to rugby tackle the skydiver to the ground before he had even landed. All for an Easter Egg.
More of Sharyn’s amazing work can be found here…

A Huge Thank You
The event itself could not have gone so well without the support of the locals, but the true people involved in making this event happen were:
Patty – From Plett-Tourism who organised the whole event and personally made sure we came along. We cannot believe how smoothly the event ran, especially as it exceeded the original estimations on turn out.
The Team – We met and introduced ourselves to most of you, sadly writing down all your names would take up a blog post in itself but you guys, and girls truly did the whole event proud. From your professionalism to your friendly welcoming, you helped make the event what it was.
Redford Lane Wines – From the location, to the fantastic wines, you may only be a small Vineyard, but boy are you going places.
To Conclude
So with that being said we thoroughly enjoyed the day, and feel sorry for any that missed out on the Plett Truck And Vine Festival.
If you would like any of the images, we have the High Quality versions, but upload only low quality for loading times.
Keep an eye out for the next event… For us we are looking forward to the Easter Weekend, to see what other mischief we can get involved in.
